Sunday, back on set of Causality again. Also, the Super bowl, so most everybody I knew was more excited about that but hey, I do makeups, I don’t watch sports. My dad was pretty excited though ’cause his favorite team was going this year (the 49’ers) sad for him that they lost though…(posting late enough that this isn’t a spoiler right?).
Again, lucky for me, they cut me loose from set after lunch, so I was able to jet back over to my parents house to be home with Sofie that night. I was worried that it would be another long day and I wouldn’t have been able to see her until Monday, but I was super happy to be able to go home to her!
Any time I’m away from her for long periods of time I get withdrawals, I love that little girl so much.
Snuggling up with her is just the best thing ever, and it was a great end to my weekend.
Playing catch-up is fun! At this rate, I’ll be on schedule in a couple days… ahhhh.
Saturday was a “work” day for me, luckily for me most of what I entail as “work” is usually fun because it’s doing what I love and usually doing it with people that I like.
It was another weekend on the web series that I have been working on (Causality). Usually the makeup work for this shoot is pretty simple, powder, and some occasional fx, it was a nice change to do something a little more “vamped” up (see here). I always love making people purty. 🙂
I got done with work a little earlier than I thought, so Jason and I had a chance to go out and have a little fun seeing our friend’s band Country Lips play a show at a local bar. It was a fun little night out, but we had to remember to be responsible because I had to work and get up early the next morning. Still fun though!
Forcing myself to do one more post before I go to bed…
My head is swimming, so much to do and think about… it gets hard to concentrate when I get like this.
Thursday I left my parents house and headed back to Seattle for the night since I had my acting workshop. It turned out to be a pretty fun class, we did improv the whole time, and it was cool to get some creative juices flowing. I don’t typically think of myself as very funny, but it’s rewarding to be able to work with a group of talented people that don’t judge, mostly because they’re making fools of themselves as well.
There are very few “safe” places like that any more. About half way done with classes, I need to get working on memorizing my monologues!
Last Wednesday was another day at my parents house.
More Toy Story, of course, then we all went out down town to visit my mom’s friend who owns a little boutique. She is interested in having me make a website for her business, so I went to talk with her a bit to figure out what she would like.
I guess I would call myself a pretty tech savvy person, but I hope I can get it right! Maybe there’s a future for me in web design…
Can’t believe we’re almost done with this project, one more month to go… I’m so excited for Sofie to turn 2!
Last Tuesday I headed back over to my parents house in the afternoon to catch up with Sofie and stay for a couple days.
I always feel bad leaving her for long periods of time… now if only I could figure out how to bring her to work with me…’
I soon discovered Sofie’s latest obsession, Toy Story, she can’t get enough of the movie. In fact, she’s enraptured by it every time. On the plus side, it allows me to get a little more work done, on the down side, we watch it about 5 times a day…
I had left my makeup kit at my parents house and I had work to do that following Saturday, so I headed back over that morning to get it, and hang out for a bit with Sofie before going back to Seattle yet again.
I rarely get out of my car when I’m riding the ferry these days, but I was prompted to that day and I was glad I did. A pair of Portland photographers happened to sit in the booth behind me and I was able to overhear a bit of their conversation. I don’t usually like to put myself out there and interrupt strangers, but I did anyway and introduced myself before leaving. We were able to exchange contact info and chat a little bit about the local photography and makeup scene.
Not sure if anything will come of it, but it was a great progress point for me because I hardly ever talk to strangers like that.
I was really missing Sofie last Monday, but in an effort to get our lives a little more organized, Jason and I asked my mom to keep Sofie for one more day at their house.
We worked on getting a schedule together, a budget, something we could stick to and agree on. Things have been tough relation-ship wise lately and we just needed something we could come together on. It was still challenging, but I think we made a little head way.
It’s difficult when we’re butting heads all the time, but we have a mutual interest and care for Sofia, and she is what motivates me to keep trying at our relationship…
Life gets heavy sometimes, but at the end of the day, Sofie always puts a smile on my face.
Saturday was day one for me on set of the music video I was working on for a local Hip Hop artist – Spekulation.
I hadn’t ever worked with this crew before and was sent over on recommendation from another makeup artist, so I was looking forward to networking and meeting some new people. It was a fun set, and work was relatively easy, so that was nice…
Here’s Sofie, staying at my parents for the weekend. She looks a bit scowl-y, probably because my mom put her in a moomoo! Haha
That Friday, I met one of my soon-to-be brides for a trial session at my studio (my last one there before we moved out, actually…), then I headed back to my parents to meet with a tax guy that a family friend recommended.
I actually ended up learning quite a bit about taxes, it is after all, my first year doing taxes for myself… I kind of want to get it right.
After that, I popped by my parents house to visit with Sofie and have dinner before I headed back home to Seattle. Wish I could have stayed longer with her, but I had a music video to work on that weekend.
