Sofia 365: A Year in the Making

This is it.

I’ve finished it.

The culmination of everything I have been working toward for the last year is here.

The reason why I was the “crazy mom” on Facebook that  posted pictures of her daughter every day, it all now (hopefully) makes sense.

Living day by day, sometimes it’s hard to notice the changes of your little one growing, but they happen, and they happen faster than you think.
Sometimes you take it for granted, and once that moment is gone, it’s gone; they will never be this small, or sweet or innocent again, so cherish those moments.

All the hours and time I spent on this project with Sofia  has been condensed into less than 8 minutes of a beautiful, wonderful, transformation.

Every day, every photo, every frustrating moment, every laugh, and every emotion in between had been captured day by day for an entire year.

And this is what it looks like.

Hope you enjoy!

Something Fun

Sofie and I have gotten into the habit of singing songs the past few days. She loves to dance and asks me to sing.

Here’s a favorite as of late, “Pumped up Kicks” by Foster the People

Excuse the bad sound quality, web cam mic doesn’t pic up very well!

Sofie was too cute in this video not to share. 🙂

(I’m an amateur at guitar, don’t judge!)

Birthday Girl 2013!

Here are just a few highlights from Sofie’s big Birthday two Sundays ago!

STILL can’t believe my little girl is TWO!

It was such a long, fun, day, but I’m so glad the weather cooperated and we were able to take her to the zoo.

Morning started off with birthday waffles, opening presents, I got her some new clothes, shoes and a purse! She loves the purse, has to take it with her everywhere now, she’s got her own little lip balm in it and a compact mirror. God, I’m gonna turn her into such a mini-me! Haha.

After breakfast we headed out to the Woodland Park Zoo.
The Zoo was great, we made it mostly around the park, spent almost all afternoon there walking around and seeing animals. It was my first visit to the zoo here as well, pretty neat, but also kind of a bummer. Couldn’t help but feel bad for some of the animals in there, it’s a cool experience, but I’d much rather see them in their natural habitats…

Anywho, we saw a huge list of animals; penguins, monkeys, leopards, zebras, hippos, gorillas… all kinds of cool creatures.

I would say the best part of our zoo visit was the very last exhibit we visited: the snow leopards!

When we got there all the snow leopards were way far off and the closest was turned away from us; after watching for a few minutes, we were almost ready to head out since Sofie was so tired. Then, the leopard closest to us turned around and came right up the glass in front of Sofie! She was so excited, the thing would have been nose to nose with her had the glass not been there. It was the coolest moment, and so glad I captured it!

We walked through the gift shop right before leaving and I couldn’t help but pick out a stuffed snow leopard doll to keep as a little keepsake from the day.
Sofie still talks about how it “looked right at” her, so friggen cute.

Enjoy some of our highlight pictures from her birthday morning and trip to the zoo!

Sofia 365: Day 365!

Sofia 365: Day 365

Sofie’s 2nd birthday went without hardly a hitch last Sunday. Birthday weekend was great overall, my parents Friday, Jason’s family on Saturday, and Sunday was Birthday ZOO Day (photos coming soon)!

I honestly couldn’t believe she was turning 2 already, felt like I just had her yesterday.

This year has been full of so many ups and downs, but my one constant has been Sofie, and her safety, happiness, and growth.

It was a tough year, a learning year, but now, I’ve ended up with the best little girl I could have ever asked for. She’s not a little baby anymore! I have to get used to that…

She’s gonna grow up so darn fast…

Enough words, there will be more to come, so let’s get to some photos!

Hard to believe this will be my very last photo in the series (I’ll still continue to take photos, just not daily)…
Can we recap with some of the highlights of every month from the beginning?

March 2013

It was a long day of birthday celebration and zoo going, the photo was one of the last things we did that night. She was tired, cranky, but I had to get this last one in! Hard to fathom this photo was going to complete my project after a year of work on this… But, I got a smile out of her eventually. 🙂

A Month in Review

Boy, it’s been a while hasn’t it?

After rounding the home stretch this past month, I thought I’d try something different with Sofie’s pictures, and I just ended up waiting.

Maybe to build anticipation, or just laziness on my part, but I held off on posting any of Sofie’s pics from the last month and just waited to compile them and just do a month in review leading up to Sofie’s birthday, and the anniversary of this project. One big bite before dessert.

I know I might sound like a bit of a broken record, but jeez, Sofie has changed so much this year, and even month to month she changes and grows.

Mid February and early march has been full of a lot of work, adventures, chapstick and lipgloss (much of it on Sofie’s face.)

Living with an almost-Two year old child the past month has given me it’s fair share of challenges and frustrations, she’s more demanding and moody, but also more playful, and she’s been growing into her own little “person”. It’s been awesome to watch and be a part of that growth.

I’m saving her very last photo from this project for it’s own post. Her birthday was a certain success, and I can’t wait to share all of our adventures from the weekend.

In the mean time, check out set of photos from the past month leading up to the very, very end. I was also very excited to get my camera back from the repair shop (or at least part of it) so that I could finish off my project with the same “quality” equipment that I started it with. Boy, did I miss my camera…

Anywho… What a month it’s been! Do you have a favorite image from the set? I sure do. 🙂

March Update, Me Rambling, and Sofia 365!

Hi All,

I know it seems I’ve completely dropped off earth the past few weeks, I’ve been super busy, but just wanted to do a quick update since it’s the week leading up to Sofie’s birthday.

Here’s a little of my plan for the culmination of my “Sofia 365” project, as well as what I’ve been up to lately.

Thanks for watching!

Sofia 365: Day 337

Day 337: 2.10.13

Happy Tuesday everyone, a few more posts today…

——–

Sunday was a busy day of working, as are most weekends nowadays.

In the morning I was back again doing hair and makeup for the set of Causality, a webseries, for a few hours. Afterwards, I headed out to a charity event for breast cancer called Speed Rack on Capitol Hill. I was helping to do hair and makeup for the female bartenders that were competing in a speed bar-tending competition, all in support of breast cancer research. I got to work with a few of my makeup artist friends and also hang out and watch the event for a bit, it was volunteer, but we got lots of free drinks and even a free bottle of booze to take home, pretty sweet. I think that was the first time I’d ever been paid in alcohol before; it was a fun event to watch though, these girls are super talented!

Jason joined me for a bit at the event, then we headed out to grab some food with a couple other of my stylist friends I’d been working with. It was a fun evening and a fun day of working; always nice to be able to work with a group of people that are talented and get along.

Here’s Sofie, chillin’ at my mom’s rocking the sweet sweater my grandma got her from Ecuador.
